Lauren specializes in trauma, intimate partner violence, LGBTQ issues and pre-marital therapy. Largely, she employs techniques from Cognitive Behavioral therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), and Motivational Interviewing. Lauren's philosophy is that all individuals possess the ability to be successful and happy but sometimes lack the empowerment and self-efficacy to achieve desired goals. Lauren's technique is to help individuals improve their sense of self-efficacy as they strive to reach their fullest potential. Individuals can expect to be treated respectfully as they are gently guided through a process of self-reflection and action. Past experiences include clinical services and supervision with domestic and intimate partner violence; individual and group therapy with incarcerated women and individuals affected by HIV/AIDS; dual diagnosis treatment (IOP); teaching social work courses; and serving on several board of directors, presently with Tennesseans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty.
