Though I have a specialty in geriatrics, I enjoy working with adults of all ages and backgrounds on a wide range of issues. For those dealing with disturbing experiences my approach is informed by EMDR, in which I have completed Level II training. In treatment we begin with establishing what a client wants to be different in their life, identifying existing strengths on which to build, and jointly making a plan of steps towards the desired change(s), while developing a relationship of trust. Progress towards goals is monitored, adjusting goals and steps as needed to achieve progress. I have worked in social services 38 years, starting in child welfare and moving into mental health work with adults. I will consider home-based visits for those who are home -bound, if their home environment affords confidentiality and limited distractions from treatment.
