I have the clinical skills and years of professional experience to successfully help those individuals who are either directly or indirectly affected by addictions, mood disorders, traumas and other less intense issues of daily living. In addition I believe that my own life experiences are also an asset when it comes to being able to understand a client's feelings and problems. I usually begin therapy by helping clients to find their own inner strengths and abilities that we can then build on to develop new and more effective ways of thinking, feeling and being in their lives and in the world ! I've been working with individuals who struggle with substance abuse problems as well as other addictive behaviors for over 15 years, some clients are dually diagnosed, having both a substance abuse disorder as well as another mental health diagnosis, such as Major Depression, General Anxiety, PTSD, and others. I use meditation and mindfulness techniques when appropriate and if clients are so interested in a mind-body connection and healing. I am EMDR trained and find it effective for the processing of trauma symptoms related to PTSD, and also use it for less severe symptoms of depression and anxiety.
