I have specialized in Cognitive-Behavioral treatment of Anxiety and Depression for 20+ years, seeing first-hand that CBT provides patients with an effective "tool box" to manage their stress. The initial session includes family and personal history and a comprehensive evaluation of types of anxiety and depression, and current stressors. By the end of that session, I help the patient understand what the treatment might look like and we set personal goals according to the patient's needs. Homework is central to my work, and my goal is that the patient feels better at the end of each session. My goal as a psychologist is to provide the best treatment and care possible so that patients can become their own therapist. To that end, I work closely with each patient to make sure their treatment plan meets their particular needs. Cognitive-Behavioral treatment helps patients find their own strengths. I'm in private practice, located in my own building 5 minutes from downtown Bloomington. Staying abreast of current research is very important to me. I believe each patient brings a unique set of circumstances and needs, and it's my responsibility to help them identify and achieve their goals.
