There is a special place in my heart for the traumatized child. Traumatic events in childhood have a devastating impact on the child and family. Traumatized children need empathic, understanding, knowledgeable adults to come along side to guide and comfort the child through the journey of recovery. I provide adults with information and education to support the child while providing practical techniques rewarding for adults and child. By offering both parent and child reparative experiences, I help traumatized children discard ineffective coping patterns and regain a sense of safety and security, rebuild trust, and gain improved parent-child relationship. I'm a child development specialist with extensive training in play therapy, including sand work, Theraplay, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). I use these in conjunction with EMDR and trauma-cognitive behavioral therapy (TCBT) to help children process grief and loss, resolve trauma, reduce disruptive behavior, and enhance attachment. I offer a warm, respectful counseling office where tools and toys are available for play therapy. If your child has special needs that require sessions at home or school, I am willing to try and assist your child's need. It is an honor and privilege to serve you and your family.
