I have over 20 years of experience in the field of mental health. I enjoy working with a variety of populations , including but not limited to people who are anxious, depressed, struggling with relationships, recovery, or have a history of abuse or trauma. I work well at helping people learn to take better care of themselves, and support whatever spiritual journey a person may choose. At the heart of good psychotherapy is an open and honest relationship, where my task is to be mindful always of peoples choices. I identify what the needs and goals are, and set about using whatever is most effective. Talking, listening, teaching cognitive skills, self-soothing skills, relaxation, problem solving or processing of emotional blocks from the past. I use EMDR and Brain Spotting as an adjunct to my work whenever it seems helpful. I have done extensive work in the area of childhood sexual abuse and trauma. I have worked with dissociative disorders and have found that EMDR can be very useful in helping people process trauma as well as develop more inner strength.
