What's the best way to pick your ideal therapist? By finding someone with whom you click. You should feel comfortable, heard and understood, and you should get a sense that the therapist has a grasp on the challenges you are facing. That's because clinical research has shown that it is not the technique used by a therapist so much as the relationship between therapist and client that determines the effectiveness of the interaction. If you think I might be the right therapist for you, please feel free to call and ask me any questions you like. I teach practical coping and communication skills, as well as mindfulness and other methods of stress reduction. My specialties include working with disordered eating patterns, depression, anxiety, life transitions, loss, trauma, chronic pain and physical illness. I work with individuals and couples, and co-lead a weekly DBT group. I graduated from Columbia University of Social Work in 1996 and am a certified Kripalu Yoga teacher. To understand more about my further training and teachers, you may visit the following websites: irest.us, dianepooleheller.com, drdansiegel.com, kripalu.org, stantatkin.com.
