As human beings, we have within, what is needed to overcome life difficulties. Many times we allow biological dysfunctions, the environment, old memories, mind limitations to robe us from living our best lives. How we perceive our brain functions, bodies, people, and events, may leads us to give away our internal power. Our reality, although true to us, many times is based on erroneous thoughts, unchallenged values and principles, ineffective actions and behaviors. As a therapist this is where I encourage my clients to begin the process of change, identifying and challenging the self. Mental illness is debilitating and pharmacotherapy is necessary at times. Psychotherapy is necessary to sediment and maintain wholeness. I treat conscious and unconscious factors that affect change. Mind and body affect each other. We maintain wholeness with proper nutrition, enough sleep, physical activity, quieting the mind and by eliminating bad habits. I utilize strategies to challenge thought processes, to help calm the mind, and care for the body such as Mindfulness, Dialectical, Behavioral Therapy, Neuro Linguistic Programing, and Self-Hypnosis. I hope to neutralize a negative or traumatic past. My approach challenges outdated unconscious memories. If unresolved, unconscious, maladaptive behaviors prevent us from a fulfilling future.
