A Directory of Mental Health Counselors and Therapists in the United States Over twelve thousand professionals with advanced degrees, licensed and professionally qualified.
People typically come to see me when they feel anxious, depressed, stressed out, or stuck. I find that what distresses people most is not their actual feelings, but their reaction to their feelings. I work with clients to help them be more compassionate with themselves, so that they can develop a sense of curiosity and acceptance toward their experiences. As people become curious about why they feel the way they do, they are able to see their situation in a new light, and can come up with new solutions. I work from a psychodynamic perspective and help clients better understand their subjective experience and the ways in which past experiences may be interfering with their leading a more satisfying life. I also use mindfulness to help clients be more compassionate with themselves and to emphasize a person's strengths. I work with adults and with older teenagers (age 17 to 19). I have recently changed to full-time private practice, and have openings for new clients.
