I assume that you are reading this because something in your life is not going well. I specialize in working with adults, adolescents, and children who feel isolated, depressed, and anxious--or have other symptoms--because they need to feel recognized, loved, and appreciated. I focus on life changes--new people in the household or losses; new challenges at work or school; an "empty nest" or family changes related to aging. I am experienced with diverse relationships including parent-child, parent-adolescent, siblings, couples and stepfamilies from pre-commitment through retirement, and older adults with their adult children. I apply a "narrative-behavioral" approach (described at www.identityrenegotiation.com) that focuses on people's ability to update identities when lives are stuck. When problems arise, I assume that change is needed--in self or others. I help rework identities through reflection, choice, and collaboration and coordination with others. I conduct sessions in my office and also work electronically with individuals, couples, and families. I find email and video to be especially helpful with stepfamilies, military and business families that struggle with long-distance relationships, and multiple households created by separation and divorce.
