As a Registered Play Therapist, I work with children 1 year and older with a variety of presenting concerns: anxiety, ADHD, social difficulties, academic struggles, behavioral concerns, divorce, life transitions, self-esteem, anger, and grief. My passion lies with children and their families who have experienced trauma, abuse or attachment difficulties. Recent brain research has proven that the absence of a secure attachment with a primary caregiver negatively impacts the child's normal developmental process. In order to ensure inner change, my play therapy work often initially focuses on developing a positive, consistent, and nurturing relationship with an attachment figure. My goal is to foster healing in children and help them to grow emotionally, which allows them to thrive in everyday life. Instead of focusing solely on "quick fixes," I create lasting change within the family. Attachment based play therapy will still provide short-term solutions, but its focus is to maintain long-term results. My philosophy is that successful therapy must be an inclusive approach addressing all aspects of the child's life, including home, school, and community. Therefore, I offer an array of services to ensure lasting success, including play therapy, family therapy, home based services, parent consultations, school based services and observations, and/or parenting groups.
