None of us learn much from getting things right; it is from the mistakes of ours or those near to us that we find real growth. The only problem with this is that it is too easy to fail to learn or to blame others when we try to figure this out by ourself. Making sense of this is where a good therapist plays an invaluable role. Inevitably, people come to see me because something has gone wrong, because they are in pain, or because their ways of living are no longer working. It is through understanding how old patterns are failing, and through finding the creativity and courage to act in new ways, that healing happens. I see straight and gay individuals and couples in my practice.
