In addition to children and adolescents, couples and families, as a therapists' therapist I see other care-providers such as psychologists, social workers, physicians, nurses, teachers, administrators, clergy, as well as business owners, executives, university faculty and others. Periodic organizational consultation, employee and management training, as well as executive coaching are also fulfilling activities. Generally I am asked to address challenges of balancing within the individual (fears & anxieties, sadness & anger), harmonizing interpersonal relationships (marital conflict, bullying), synchronizing group and inter-group relations (trouble with bosses, co-workers), and guiding spiritual exploration (death & dying, grief, doubt). Much of my assistance is client-centered, brief, and solutions focused. I have developed a series of simple maps that allow clients to see where they have been, are, and might like to be. These maps and methods allow clients to deal with individual unhappiness, interpersonal dissatisfaction, and social conflict/alienation in an effective manner. Creating small support groups in the community made up of clients who have successfully dealt with specific mental health issues, nicely compliments the mentoring I do with therapists and other care-providing professionals. An innovative "pair-therapy" approach involving buddying up with another coping with the same issue(s) is available.
