I believe it is my job as a therapist to empower my clients to find their own path and truth as they understand it. In terms of theoretical orientation I would describe myself as integrative with a strong emphasis on multicultural feminist theories. How this translates into therapy is most evident in my emphasis on a collaborative approach and a goal of empowering my clients. At the same time I am engaged in continuous consideration of how multiple oppressions (sexism, racism, heterosexism, classism) in the current societal and historical context may be contributing to distress. I have extensive experience and passion working with underrepresented populations in counseling; particularly racial or ethnic minorities and individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, & bisexual. I am an ally and advocate for individuals navigating gender identity, expression, and transition. I am also a kink and poly aware therapist.
