I strive to provide my clients with a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment for self-exploration. I believe in a collaborative approach wherein client and therapist join together to understand the sources of pain, fear, and unhappiness and to make changes that will create a more meaningful and fulfilling life. While "symptom relief" is a priority early in treatment, I attempt to get to know people well enough to guide them into insights regarding the causes of their problems. I use a strengths-based approach to help adults and couples, strive toward healthier and happier living. I enjoy working with adults, couples and adolescents (15+) to address addiction, trauma, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, relationship problems, and questions pertaining to sexual and gender identity. My primary areas of interest include depression, post-traumatic stress, and the use of mindfulness-based strategies to face difficulties. Many clients have described me as very down to earth, open-minded and even a bit unconventional. In addition to working with individuals dealing with everyday concerns, I also enjoy working with those who find fitting into mainstream society difficult or uninteresting. Individuals seeking treatment under court order are welcome.
