I've been a Psychiatric Nurse for over 30 years and an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse for 15 years. I love what I do helping others out with with their life struggles. I don't believe in just prescribing medications but trying other treatment approaches first. I believe that a mental disorder affects all family members and care providers. I also believe that while we have made great strides in mental health care, we have a long way to go. I am a native Vermonter who returned after living away for a number of years. In my specialty I treat most psychiatric disorders and enjoy the diversity that this provides me in keep up with the latest Evidence-Base Practice treatments. I feel very strongly that a good assessment is critical for establishing a diagnosis and consequently a sound treatment plan to guide treatment planning. I enjoy what I do and add teaching students about mental health subjects in addition to practicing because one is synergistic with the other. I believe that while each mental illness disorder has commonalities, persons seen as clients must be seen and treated as individuals.
