Recovery for the substance user and their family members and friends has been my passion since 1981. I see recovery as a self-discovery process in which we begin to choose new thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I work with all age groups who have been negatively impacted by their own substance use or by the use of someone they love. Some of my clients are still using substances or behaviors and are exploring possibilities of change. Others are in early, middle or late stages of recovery. Of particular interest to me is working with those who have difficulty getting and staying healthy. Family of origin issues often impede recovery, and I offer a safe place to begin to explore these family dynamics. Another area that I am involved in is parenting relationships with adult children. I provide clinical supervision and domain specific education for those seeking licensure as an Addiction Counselor. I offer continuing education for professionals. I am an approved provider for NAADAC and NAFC. I currently serve on the Tennessee Licensure Board for Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors.
