An interesting client for me is the middle-aged male who has climbed the ladder of success only to find there is nothing there but "stuff". They are extremely depressed realizing that they are unsatisfied with their lives. So they come into therapy to start "The Male Journey". If they become humble and honest, there is a chance that they can transform their lives for the better. Often, this approach is successful with couples who are in need of relationship counseling. I enjoy using both client centered counseling in conjunction with cognitive behavioral therapy, so that the client both discovers his reality and at the same time becomes more in tune with relationships with other human beings. I am the author of 3 books concerning the male journey. I have organized male awareness groups at night for many years realizing that the male gender is in deep trouble.
