Growing up is a challenge for most, but for kids and young adults dealing with behavior or moods issues, such as ADHD, Bipolar, Depression and Anxiety, life my seem confusing and overwhelming. I am fortunate to have an ability to connect & develop an alliance with teens, especially those who are defiant, disrespectful, who feel entitled or are resistant to counseling. I am able to help them learn new skills (coping, problem solving, communication, anger management, organization, study, social, etc.) & more importantly, reflect & share their thoughts & feelings. My experience with & dedication to treating ADHD, and other emotional or behavior issues, isn't just professional; it's personal: I have ADHD. Untreated until graduate school, I am better able to understand the effect of symptoms from a variety of perspectives & apply that knowledge in my practice. Clients feel that because I live with ADHD, have struggled with it, understand the thoughts & emotions associated with it & find new ways to manage & cope with it, it gives me an advantage in their treatment. They describe me as an effective, hardworking, caring, empathetic, accommodating, "think outside the box" therapist.
