I work collaboratively with clients on a variety of issues including depression and anxiety, relationship difficulties, alcohol and chemical dependency, anger and stress management, career development, and adjustment to life changes. In counseling individuals, couples, and adolescents, I employ psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral approaches, chemical dependency assessments, and psychological testing. I work as part of a large multidisciplinary practice. If a referral is needed for medication or other special needs, referral options within our group are readily available. I am a former President of the Georgia Psychological Association. I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and in Social Psychology from Georgia State University in Atlanta. I completed my baccalaureate degree at the University of Colorado. I have been in private practice in the Atlanta metropolitan area since 1990. Before entering private practice, I served as the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team Director of the Psychiatric Crisis Stabilization Service at the Georgia Mental Health Institute. I also provided family therapy for the Child and Adolescent Program at Lawrenceville's Gwinnett County Mental Health Center. I am Board Certified in alcohol and chemical dependency disorders, am a Fellow of the Georgia Psychological Association, and a Member of the American Psychological Association.
