I specialize in treating individuals with anxiety problems especially social anxiety and panic disorder. Often along with this issue, I work with helping young adults become more independent. My work focuses on getting patients to see how their anxieties can be mastered while accepting that some anxiety can be normal and healthy. I also have a background working with patients with chronic pain and adjustment to other chronic illnesses such as diabetes and multiple sclerosis. I collaborate with other health care providers to help the patient cope with their illness and feel less overwhelmed by the medical decisions that they need to make. I use cognitive-behavioral therapy to work on identifying the symptoms, thoughts and behaviors that maintain anxiety disorders. The patient and I then develop a treatment plan to address each of these problems.
