[I am not currently accepting new patients.] I stress the importance of strong, caring therapeutic relationship with my clients. My approach depends on each person's goals. For those who have general concerns about identity issues, transitions, or relationships, my approach is exploratory and less structured. For those seeking a resolution of a particular problem (e.g., depression, PTSD, OCD), I take a structured, goal oriented approach. I have advanced training in the treatment of depresssion, anxiety disorders, trauma, and substance abuse. Specifically, I utilize evidenced-based treatments proven to reduce distressing symptoms. Choosing a psychotherapist is difficult for everyone. Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people often face additional concerns when choosing a mental health professional due to past discrimination. As a member of the LGBT community, I endeavor to provide affirming treatment. Prior to working in private practice, I worked as a research therapist addressing substance use, depression, and health behaviors. This experience helped me hone a practical, contemporary approach to psychotherapy.
