After 35 years practicing as a clinical psychologist I have come to understand that effective treatment must be determined specifically for each client and applied in a respectful and cooperative manner. Treatment choices are made based on the uniqueness of the individual, his or her goals, and current life circumstances. They may include behavior therapy, cognitive therapy, in-depth therapy, or couples and family therapy. One treatment modality is not appropriate for all. Proven effective treatments are available for anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, compulsive behaviors, and relationship problems. Relationship problems may include communication, infidelity, and internet addiction. I address not only the elimination of dysfunction, but I direct treatment to encourage psychological, physical, and interpersonal health. In addition to my out-patient practice, I have provided psychological services and consultation to Brighton Medical Center for over 25 years. This has given me the experience to deal with the impact of physical illness and aging on mental health and to work collaboratively with physicians and psychiatrists.
