I believe the human mind is an amazingly resilient and resourceful machine. In the face of chaos, trauma, abuse, and other negative situations, it creates coping skills. Unfortunately, these coping skills - escapism, withdrawal, numbness, hyper-vigilance, trauma repetition, among others - often become maladaptive over time in the forms of anxiety, depression, addiction, etc. I don't view people as "broken" and needing to be "fixed". Instead, I see them as people with coping skills that just are not helpful anymore. Learning is the key - learning new ways of doing and new ways of thinking can solve almost any dilemma. I am part of a psychiatry practice. Therefore, you can have continuity of care if you decide to see one of the psychiatrists on site. However, you are not required to see one here; you may see one elsewhere or not at all. I accept some insurances. I offer a self-pay rate of $50.
