As we engage with life, we sometimes find ourselves experiencing states of self-doubt concerning our lives, our relationships or the condition of the world in general. Other times, there can be more immediate concerns such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse, or traumatic stress, that impact our ability to function daily and to appreciate the fullness of experience that life has to offer. In my work, I draw from a variety of modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, substance abuse counseling, trauma-informed care and psychosomatic approaches, which allow me to effectively collaborate with the client to address these challenges. My primary focus is the practice of trauma-informed therapies, of which the Adverse Childhood Experiences study has become the centerpiece of my clinical work. As a result, sessions can include client-centered psychotherapy, trauma psychoeducation, affect regulation or integrating somatic interventions such as biofeedback, acupuncture, reflexology and Chi Kung. The research being done by Vincent Felitti and Bessel van der Kolk has shown that the somatic interventions are remarkably effective for treatment of trauma . These modalities combined with a nonjudgmental and empathic understanding, enable me to provide the best possible care in support of my clients needs and goals.
