My name is Nytisha Gaston and I have experience working with clients who need help in addressing problematic behaviors that tend to impair their ability to function. I have treated individuals, from childhood to adulthood, who struggle with ways to manage emotions, mood, impulsivity, and addictive behaviors. In addition to this, as a behavioral specialist, I have also worked closely with parents seeking help in managing the behaviors of their special needs children. I apply many facets of cognitive behavioral therapy while utilizing techniques in motivational interviewing which enables me to engage both voluntary and involuntary clients in the therapeutic process. My approach is client-centered and strengths based. In an effort to build rapport and address barriers to clients' ability to engage in treatment, I make special accomodations to meet clients in an environment that makes them feel safe. Under certain circumstances, community-based treatment is often utilized.
