I have been an addictions counselor for over 20 years. I specialize in helping those who have loved ones in their lives that suffer from addictions. I have developed a reputation of being effective in helping people who were resistanct to past treatment/treatments and continue to create dysfunction in their lives and the lives of their family. I work with dually diagnosed clients who are stable and compliant with their medications. I have helped individuals and families better understand the disease of addiction and learn how to get well and stay well. The current approach to treating individuals with addictive behaviors is called Motivational Interviewing {MI}. I use this counseling technique as well as traditional techniques to help addicts develop their own argument for change. This works towards creating an attitude where the addict becomes personally involved in wanting to change and begin to get well. l also pay special attention to person's whose loved ones are ill.
