I work with children and adults who have experienced trauma, chronic pain and health concerns, anxiety, depression, conflict, and behavioral problems. Therapy with children includes techniques from Child Centered Play Therapy, which helps children express emotion, cultivate empathy, become responsible for behaviors, respect others, accept themselves, and learn social skills. I use EMDR with adults and children for trauma resolution. It is effective for resolving emotional difficulties caused by painful life experiences. When we have upsetting experiences or repeated failures we lose a sense of control over life. Anxiety, depression, irritability, anger, guilt, and behavioral problems can get better, and usually DO get better! I pick the tools I use and share with my Clients from how they work, how they help get 'the rubber on the road' in terms of making life better. I don't pick them because they sound cool, make me look like an expert, or fun to use. I pick them because they work. Your therapy or your child's therapy may include creative approaches from ego state therapy, art therapy, sand tray and other therapies. The environment is relaxed and friendly. I try to teach as many take home tools as I can. What happens between therapy can be just as important as what happens within therapy.
