I enjoy working with children and families who are struggling to understand each other and get along. A lack of communication and an inability to express feelings appropriately are often the main issues in these relationships. I work with not only the children/teens to increase their abilities in these areas, I also work with the parents and siblings to help them understand how they can help the relationship be less turbulent. I enjoy working with children and teens who are having problems with their peers, struggling with social skills, dealing with low self-esteem, having feelings of sadness, and lacking the ability to express themselves in a way that others understand. At An Open Mind, LLC, we use a coaching approach rather than traditional counseling. Coaching focuses on the here and now instead of the past and is very solution focused and goal-oriented. This approach often leads to more fast-paced, efficient, and long-term progress for our clients.
