I work with individuals with a need to talk to someone in a safe, confidential, encouraging setting. Read on to hear about my diverse specialties.. My training from Duke Hospital focused on behavioral and surgical weight loss, and pain management. My fellowship training in San Francisco was in oncology, cardiac rehabilitation, and end of life care. Based on my graduate training also specialize in depression, anxiety, eating disorders, life transitions, and couples therapy. In addition I enjoy working with parents and adolescents. 1) Being a parent is more challenging than ever before, especially at a few key points. I work with mothers preparing pre-baby to prevent post-partum baby blues; Counseling after birth, during the high risk period for depression and anxiety (it is OK to bring your baby to these appointments); Mothers dealing with work/home stress; Dealing with frustrating (yet normal) childhood behaviors; and Parents learning to better communicate with adolescents. 2) It's also more difficult than ever before to be an adolescent. I enjoy working with adolescents to improve communication with parents and peers; Dealing with life/school stress; Dealing with body image issues; and Making decisions about the future, etc.
