I am excited to meet with my clients to explore with them how I can be helpful in meeting their needs and goals. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who practices in Blacksburg, Va. I spent the first 10 years of my career as a counselor in the university setting. I focus on collaborating with clients to facilitate a process of change. At times, the coping skills we utilized in the past aren't as helpful. I believe the therapeutic relationship developed between a therapist and client helps explore new skills to use each day. The focus of my work has been with late adolescents, college students and adults who are managing concerns related to relationships, gender based violence (ie:sexual assault, relationship violence), body image and disordered eating. I also have extensive experience working with issues related to trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and grief. I look forward to hearing from clients so we can discuss the next steps. My therapeutic influences include Interpersonal Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral, Mindfulness, and Solution Focused theories.
