Marital Discernment Counseling. Many couples are considering divorce due to a variety of difficulties in their marriage. Discernment counseling, which is distinct from marital counseling, is a specific approach designed to help you gain a deeper understanding of what has happened to your marriage and what might be possible for the future. It helps you gain clarity about what direction to take for your marriage, and confidence as you move forward - one session at a time. The goal of this approach is not to solve your problems but to help you decide whether to try to solve your problems. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2005, I primarily work with marriage, blended families, individuals and men's issues from a Christian view. I use approaches that have been proven to be effective with such issues as marital problems,infidelity, sexual addiction, depression, and anxiety. Since 2006 I continue to work with military personnel and their families as they transition through the deployment cycle.As a licensed Register Nurse since 1982, I also have a unique perspective on the stress and pressures endured by medical personnel, and on the other side, as cancer survivor myself.
