It can be overwhelming to search for a psychologist, especially when you are already in distress. A comfortable fit between you and your therapist is by far the most essential ingredient in your healing process. I encourage people to be very thoughtful about selecting someone to work with, and to speak with several people if it doesn't feel right from the beginning. I welcome the opportunity to talk with potential clients about their needs, and view our initial conversation as an important first step toward healing. I do not have a specialty. I prefer not to think categorically or diagnostically, and view most of the issues people bring to therapy as complex and interrelated. If you feel understood and accepted, we can tackle most anything you are experiencing. Before becoming a psychologist, I was a lawyer. That provides me with a somewhat unique perspective, and some ways of listening and "issue spotting" that are a bit different from other psychologists.
