John F McGovern
Psychiatrist, DO
Denver, Colorado 80246

Listening to a person share their life story is the starting point for any therapeutic encounter. I am dedicated to hearing everything that a patient is trying to communicate whether that is through words or behaviors. The qualities of my patients that help them maximize their time with me are a sense of openness and curiosity, courage and humility, and trust that together we can discover a new way. Liberation from pain and empowerment to grow are the main reasons that I practice psychiatry. My practice focusses on a patient's unique internal make up as well as the complex web of experiences and relationships that comprise their life. The key to success in any intervention is an accurate and complete diagnosis. Every person is evaluated and treated based on a thorough psychiatric evaluation that informs the treatment. It is only after a complete exploration of a patient's circumstance can therapeutic options be considered, including therapy and medications.
