Counseling should be nonjudgmental, supportive and the best counselor will help you to find the goals to accomplish to help you lead a more meaningful, successful life. The most important thing to consider when working with a counselor is finding the "right fit". If you and your counselor are not hitting it off, the best counselor will either work through that stage with you, or help you to find someone else that you can work more effectively with. I believe that the most important tool in counseling is a healthy therapeutic relationship.
