Adult Behavioral Health and Addiction Treatment At Cottonwood Tucson, we rely on the latest research on the neurobiology of human development and the neuroscience of addiction and mood disorders to design cutting-edge, patient-responsive treatment programs. Our understanding of the developing brain, and how addiction and mood disorders can affect the brain's ability to make a content and confident mood, adds to our ability to successfully treat mental health issues in both adolescents and adults. Our intensive Adult Program includes a strong, solid base of medical management, twelve-step recovery concepts, family involvement, group therapy, nutritional counseling, and experiential therapies. Individualized treatment planning allows for effective drug addiction treatment and alcoholism treatment and co-occurring disorders treatment. We have been working with co-occurring disorders for more than 20 years and have experience in the treatment of complex and difficult issues. At Cottonwood Tucson, we strongly believe in the treatment of mind, body, and spirit. Our commitment to excellence is evidenced by our treatment program, which is comprised of a variety of treatment modalities and facilitated by our skilled and compassionate staff. Each patient is facilitated by a physician, psychiatrist, and primary counselor. Young Adult Addiction Treatment Programs Too often, young adults view addiction treatment as punishment imposed by others rather than a healthy and positive personal choice. With the self-centeredness of adolescence still strong, bright and talented young men and women are frequently baffled and frustrated at not being able to achieve their life goals - and yet not able to appreciate the need to change the attitudinal and behavioral blocks to personal fulfillment. Treatment methods designed for older adults can result in young patients confusing important recovery values with an infringement on their independence or an unwanted extension of parental authority. Cottonwood Tucson's Young Adult addiction treatment programs offer a treatment focus specifically designed for young adults (ages 18-24) suffering from substance addictions like addiction to pain pills such as OxyContin and other co-occurring behavioral health problems like depression, eating disorders, family of origin conflict and trauma. This 45-day inpatient program is designed to help young men and women overcome common age-related behavioral and attitudinal barriers that can hinder their ability to live independently from their parents, maintain educational gains or meaningful employment and establish healthy relationships. Sweetwater Adolescent Girls Treatment Program Our 90-day Sweetwater Program for teen girls ages 13 - 17 has been designed to help girls and their families recover and make necessary changes to improve the quality of their lives. Our treatment program for teen girls places a strong emphasis on scholastics, offering both structured classroom hours as well as a therapeutic curriculum designed to further the intellectual, emotional, and spiritual growth of each girl. The Sweetwater Treatment Program for teen girls utilizes a unique and engaging approach to treat girls seeking addiction, depression or self harm help and the treatment of co-occurring disorders. Our approach leverages various treatment modalities that offer opportunities for introspection, insight, skill development, and social integration. Treatment is enhanced by a week-long, intensive family program, designed to enrich family relationships. Family members are offered classes in effective parenting and communication skills. The Sweetwater Program also includes comprehensive aftercare planning that targets the patient's ongoing treatment needs. Aftercare recommendations may support a return home to engage in outpatient therapy and individual counseling, or admission to a therapeutic boarding school.
