I believe that we come to solutions that are right for us through our own growth process, at our own pace, within respectful and meaningful relationships. Yet in entering relationships we often leave parts of ourselves unseen in the belief that those parts may be unacceptable. For all ages, the counseling relationship can foster a sense that the quality of relationships does matter, and with new learned skills and ways of thinking about the issues, can ultimately lead to renewed feelings of self-worth, clarity, and purpose and to more balanced and fulfilling relationships with family, friends, and co-workers. I use Relational-Cultural and Cognitive Behavioral therapies as well as Progressive Counting to foster balance and satisfaction in your life. I also believe in partnering with parents as fully as possible in treatment of children and I engage children and adolescents with play- and art-based therapies and humor. I have a strong sense of social and environmental justice. I come to this work with years of experience working in many ways with a variety of individuals from outdoor recreation, higher education, military, refugee and immigrant communities, and all socio-economic levels.
