Deciding whether you or a loved one needs counseling or therapy can be a difficult decision. Clients I see usually present issues that are causing them depressed feelings or anxiety and stress. In general most people engage in psychotherapy because they are dissatisfied with the direction their life is going. While others call because of their search for a more fulfilling life. I am particularly interested in brief therapies that bing about positive life changes. Relationships, crisis situations, trauma and loss are also reasons for making the decision to seek assistance. I am particularly interested in research based therapies that work. I focus on a practical cognitive behavioral approach that is both brief and effective in assisting clients in reaching their goals. As a marriage and family therapist I assist families through life transitions, parenting skills and conflict resolution. I have been a tenured professor of psychology, I have taught at the graduate level. I have held seminars in family therapy at the local medical school. I am chair of the LCMHC and LMFT Board at he Dept. of Health. My Psy.D. was earned at MSPP
