Therapy is a very personal journey. For many people it is vital that their therapist can directly relate to their life experiences. LGBT people find it important to work with a therapist who has direct knowledge and experience of the gay community. Members of the LGBT community often struggle with stressors not experienced by the dominant culture. Dealing with discrimination, coming out to one's family, and discovering an "authentic" self in the face of social pressures can lead to higher levels of depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and suicide for LGBT individuals. Temenos Counseling provides gay centered psychotherapy to heal and cultivate the gay soul. Wade Maggert has worked with substance abusers, persons living with HIV/AIDS, foster families, Veterans and LGBT individuals. Mr. Maggert works full-time at the VA and is in the process of obtaining his Ph.D. in Depth Psychotherapy. He integrates and implements various successful treatment methods to help clients heal from deeply painful experiences.
