Finding a therapist can be an overwhelming process. Providing a safe and trusting environment is fundamental to my counseling approach. I specialize in work with substance abuse, addiction, chronic relapse, those that suffer with emotional issues in conjunction with addiction, and children. In my experience, when emotional issues are treated concurrently with addiction you will have the greatest success in reducing issues related to both simultaneously. As such, I am dually licensed to treat issues related to both mental health and addiction. For the basis of my clinical practice, I work from a psychodynamic perspective and believe that insight oriented therapy can assist in increasing self-awareness to resolve inner-conflict. Although this is my primary basis for treatment, I also utilize other therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs and treatment goals. I have specialized training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which is highly effective in treating trauma. For work specific to children and adolescents, I am experienced in play-therapy and sand-tray therapy which can be highly effective tools during the therapeutic process. *Previously my name was Nicole Weatherman.
