Dr. Barry's clinical specialties include the treatment of individuals who have symptoms of depression or other serious difficulties with feelings; overwhelming family, marital, or work stressors; a history of traumatic experiences; or an intellectual disability. Also, Dr. Barry has extensive expertise in the treatment of court-mandated individuals and others for whom anger management is problematic. Dr. Barry's approach to treatment focuses on assisting the patient to feel at ease, which then provides the opportunity to discuss difficult issues without feeling nervous. He began practicing as a Psychotherapist in 1990, and has experience with children, adolescents and adults. Dr. Barry has provided mental health services in several outpatient clinics, at the Trauma Disorders Acute Inpatient Unit at McLean Hospital in Massachusetts, and as Behavioral Psychologist on the Adult Neuropsychiatry Unit at Sheppard Pratt Hospital in Baltimore. In addition, he has taught several college-level courses, and has presented educational workshops on topics such as behavior management, psychiatric diagnoses in everyday language, personality disorders, juvenile sexual offenders, and several others.
