I've practiced psychotherapy for 30 years. I believe therapy helps someone embrace their personal authority, to live as oneself. My approach blends family systems and psychodynamic processes. I work with individuals,couples/partners, families and adolescent males. I have worked in a variety of settings with diverse populations. I have played guitar with local gospel groups. I served in the Army in Vietnam. I believe such experiences allow me to connect with people having various concerns, and enrich my understanding of human development and change. I do short term and long term therapy. My background is best suited to long term therapy where the goal is to change internal conflict. I have experience working with varieties of trauma and have edited a book on PTSD. I am a Clinical Fellow in both AAPC and AAMFT. Life is often hectic. Everyone can get stuck, with relationships, self-esteem, children, work. Recycling our frustrations can produce more frustration. Therapy is a laboratory for exploring, risk-taking, opening ourselves in a safe relationship. A little bit of progress in this area can go a long way to improving happiness.
