A Cutting Edge Mindfulness Approach The Kiloby Center for Recovery, Inc. offers a non-12 step program based on international author and speaker Scott Kiloby's book and method called, "Natural Rest for Addiction." Scott's work focuses on mindfulness, or present moment awareness. The Center uses a specific application of mindfulness called "The Living Inquiries" which were developed by Scott and which target and release thoughts, emotions and sensations as they arise around addiction, anxiety, and depression. In addition to Scott's work, the Center offers yoga, meditation, tapping and counseling. The Center's approach is particularly effective for those clients for whom 12 step does not work, chronic relapsers and those suffering from dual diagnosis or childhood trauma. Addiction clients stay at the nearby Kiloby Sober Living House, a division of the Kiloby Center for Recovery, Inc. What We Do 1. Help you live peacefully and joyfully in the present moment instead of "in your head" all the time. 2. Train you to use Scott's simple and effective mindfulness tools called "Natural Rest" and the "Living Inquiries." These are easy and accessible ways to let go of addictive, anxious and painful thinking about the past and future. 3. Help you dissolve the mental stories of low self-esteem that you have carried around since childhood such as, "I'm not good enough" or "I'm unlovable." These stories are a significant contributing factor in addiction, anxiety and depression. 4. Train you to dissolve addictive cravings in the moment they arise as well as the shame, guilt, aversion and self-judgment that often accompany addiction. 5. Help you to radically and deeply accept whatever arises in the moment, instead of rejecting, resisting, avoiding and escaping what arises. 6. Provide you with direct access to our extensive aftercare program, which you can do in your daily life once you leave the Center, including group and individual support within Scott's worldwide community of people using his methods. Treatment for Addiction, Anxiety and Depression The Kiloby Center for Recovery is located in Rancho Mirage, California within the beautiful community of Palm Springs. We are the first addiction treatment center in the U.S. to focus exclusively on mindfulness, an emerging and effective frontier in addiction treatment. We also heal anxiety, depression, PTSD, co-dependency, OCD and general unhappiness with life. Our work with addiction is very broad, covering alcoholism and various forms of drug addiction (e.g., meth addiction, heroin addiction, painkiller addiction, marijuana addiction). We also work with food disorders, food addiction, gambling addiction, sex and porn addiction and much more. The Center focuses on Scott's Living Inquiries, which are the Compulsion Inquiry, the Anxiety Inquiry and the Unfindable Inquiry. The inquiries are a systematic, easy-to-use mindfulness-like approach that helps clients simply observe words, mental pictures and bodily energies such as emotions and sensations in a non-judgmental, dispassionate way. While inquiring, clients are asked by facilitators simple questions that untangle these words, pictures and bodily energies.
