Dual Diagnosis Program Our program focuses not only on the addiction to a particular substance, but also on the issues that surround the addiction. They are treated as different sides of the same coin allowing for multiple comprehensive evaluations and provide a healthy plan for recovery. Issues that surround addiction often manifest as psychiatric problems including depression, bipolar disorder, borderline personality issues and anxiety. These disorders behave in a cycle with addiction as they are often fueled by substances and are often the cause for false feelings of needing the substance. These complementary issues will affect the way the addict is introduced to and discharged from recovery. Psychological issues may also arise from environmental and familial issues. Treatment is imperative that when an addict enters with co-occurring disorders, they receive treatment for both to ensure the most effective recovery possible. Destination Hope creates an individualized plan for each of our clients. The standard protocol for this plan includes a preliminary psychiatric evaluation, individual and family counseling, group counseling and a comprehensive discharge plan to ensure continued effective care. Two different treatments operating as one dual diagnosis program, allows greater attention and detail to each factor causing addiction in order to remove it as a sum. Sylvia Brafman Mental Health Center Sylvia Brafman Mental Health Center provides mental health treatment programs for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, dual diagnosis, schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders to adults. Located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, our mental health center offers 30-90 day residential style and outpatient mental health treatment programs. Specialty programs include mood disorders, thought disorders, dual diagnosis & trauma. Our unique program offers an outstanding family program and lifelong case management services.
