I became a clinical psychologist because I believe deeply in the reparative power of human relationships. In a number of senses, we become who we are through our interactions with others, and these patterns form the basis of how secure we feel with ourselves and others. I see the therapeutic relationship as a natural vehicle for healing relationship wounds and breaking repetitive self-injurious patterns that dovetail with interpersonal struggles. I invite clients to join me in a collaborative effort to observe and more deeply understand themselves, their relationship patterns, and their characteristic ways of thinking and feeling. It is so often through this process of exploration while feeling known, heard, and validated in the therapy relationship that clients experience relief from the emotional distress that initially brought them into therapy. My style is warm, engaging, and collaborative, and I am not afraid to challenge clients when appropriate. I am the founder and director of IntraSpectrum Counseling, a private group psychotherapy practice specializing in work with LGBTQ clients, among a number of other areas of expertise. I graduated from Duke and Northwestern Universities, and I am also on the faculty at Northwestern's Feinberg School of Medicine.
