While interning at Behavioral Sciences, I have had experience with a variety of mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, attention-deficit disorders, and bipolar disorder. I am trained in the use of the Cogmed working memory-training program. Cogmed has been used successfully with children and adults with attention-deficits (ADHD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), stroke, and adults experiencing memory loss. During my graduate program, I was given many opportunities to research, write about, and present on counseling individuals diagnosed with terminal illness, particularly cancer. Bringing awareness to this area of counseling has been a counseling interest of mine. Currently, I am working toward independent licensure in professional counseling under the supervision of Dr. Barnhart. I am a student member of the American Counseling Association, the Alabama Counseling Association, and the International OCD Foundation. An area that I have focused specifically on under the guidance of Dr. Barnhart is the use of Cognitive Behavior Therapy including Exposure and Response Prevention in the treatment of OCD.
