About The Refuge Located in the beautiful Ocala National Forest in Central Florida, The Refuge, A Healing Place is a leading provider of specialized treatment services for men and women who are facing the trials associated with depression, mood disorders, trauma, posttraumatic stress disorder, addiction, and co-occurring disorders. By implementing individualized treatment plans through the use of evidenced based therapeutic interventions, the staff at The Refuge is devoted to helping those who come to us for help with the most comprehensive, compassionate care possible as they learn to overcome their symptoms and develop the skills needed to move forward towards living the happy and fulfilling life they deserve to live. Programs and Levels of Care We strive to provide an environment that allows the therapeutic process to be tailor-made to meet each set of distinctive needs so that all of our patients are able to receive treatment in a way that will most benefit them. For individuals who are struggling with chemical dependency concerns, The Refuge offers a fully-monitored, medical drug and alcohol detoxification program. The average length of stay during this phase of treatment is between seven and ten days, but is adjusted to meet the specific needs of each patient. The residential treatment center at The Refuge is designed to be an environment that encourages healing in a safe, friendly, and comfortable atmosphere. With treatment approaches that are based on the assessments conducted at the time of admission, patients receive classical, individual, group, and experiential therapy interventions throughout their stay. The partial hospitalization programs (PHP) take place for a minimum of 30 hours per week and allow patients to receive individual and group counseling in a safe and supportive setting. The intensive outpatient programs (IOP) occur for 12-15 hours each week and include both group and private sessions. Outpatient substance abuse education is also available through The Refuge. Admissions Process All intake processes will vary slightly depending on the various circumstances presented by each individual. An admissions staff member will gather any pertinent information about the situation and/or crisis that the patient is facing and will answer any and all questions that he or she may have regarding The Refuge and what can be expected during treatment. A thorough evaluation will be completed and, upon completion, will be reviewed by a team of staff members in order to determine that The Refuge will be able to successfully meet all presenting needs. At this time, a recommendation for the most appropriate level of care will also be determined. All decisions and possible treatment options will be discussed with the patient and his or her family members or loved ones immediately. If it is determined that The Refuge will be able to successfully and optimally meet all of the patient's needs, an admission date will be set, travel arrangements will be made if necessary, and any other details will be coordinated.
