I am truly passionate about working with people to build strengths, relationships, and community in a context of safety and exploration. Empowerment and synergy are frequent themes, and counseling itself often requires a balance of science and art. For me, the science is primarily anchored in cognitive-behavioral theory, helping you examine personal thoughts/actions, then imagine and eventually try out new ones that better match current circumstances/goals. It is largely art, though - a dance perhaps - that allows us to move together to create new insight, deeper understanding, and enhanced skills that specifically resonate with both your needs and progress. For most of my career, I've worked with adults, offering individual, group, and family therapy. I've especially enjoyed providing training and support in groups, primarily around parenting issues, and I find the combination of individual and group work particularly rewarding. During 10 years of private practice, I've expanded my individual work, therapeutic groups, and programs (including the Nurturing Children Parenting Speaker Series) to include themes of adult attention deficit, women and anxiety, parenting, and mid-life divorce. I've conducted a women's ADD group for several years.
