As a therapist I aim to create a quiet, comfortable, and safe environment for my clients. I want them to feel that they may say anything at all, without permission, without being judged, and without feeling stigmatized. I also want clients to be full participants in therapy: this is your treatment, not mine. I generally do not give advice, rather, I hope that through the therapy process, insight will be gained and goals achieved. I enjoy working with individuals (adults and female adolescents), couples, and families. I use a cognitive behavioral approach to help people identify negative and inaccurate thoughts and beliefs that create distressful feelings and cause self-destructive behaviors. My personal style is relaxed, empathic, often humorous, and always non-judgmental. Psychotherapy can be hard but ultimately rewarding if you give it a chance and want things to change.
