We all experience difficulties that interfere with living our lives the way that we want to. These difficulties can be external (relationships, work, trauma), internal (emotions, thoughts, body image), or a combination. Sometimes difficulties become more than we are equipped to handle on our own. In therapy, I work to help you identify your difficulties, understand your context and contributing factors, and thereby reduce your symptoms and improve your life. I view therapy as both an individual and a team effort: only you can create change in yourself, but we will work together to figure out how to do it. My specialties include 1) relationship or interpersonal difficulties, including problems with a spouse, friend, family member, co-worker, divorce, or difficulty finding or maintaining relationships; 2) anxiety disorders, including general worries, trauma, or fears, as well as identity development, and 3) health related concerns, such as chronic pain or overeating. I am an LGBTQ ally. I have six years of teaching mindfulness meditation, a practice that helps people learn to live in the present moment. Meditation can help reduce stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, eating concerns, and can improve your overall sense of well-being. I teach group meditation classes or can work with you individually.
